THERE IS NO LAW that says visitors to the city must fall into the following routine: sightseeing in the morning, a museum in the afternoon, a ballet in the evening, and a pub crawl at night. Although this is a perfectly enjoyable way to spend time, St. Petersburg has so many things to do that it really doesn’t take much effort to throw some variety into your schedule. Consider how much your experience here will be hightened by steaming yourself at a public bathhouse first thing in the morning, bungy jumping before the ballet, and grabbing some caviar and champagne and taking a midnight canal tour.
